2 Year Review on IKEA Ektorp Sectional

Wow, guys! I can’t believe it has been 2 years since I have had our IKEA couch! This has been the most sought after blog post. I get so many questions about it and I figured it was time for a blog post! I want to first start off by saying this is not a sponsored post. I just love this IKEA couch so much  and wanted to share how much I do!! Before we bought this couch,  I did SOOOOOOO much research on it. I read blog post after blog post, review after review, and all of the things. I am a huge lover of IKEA but sometimes you aren’t sure what you are getting with them so I wanted to do all of the research to see what I was getting myself into!

First of all, we decided to go with the sectional just because we both have pretty large families and knew that we wanted to have plenty of room for our guests to sit down and eventually our own family. And might I add that we made the right choice! Josh loves the corner piece of our sectional. That is HIS spot when we are at home lounging around! I also decided to go with the Vittaryd White color for our sectional and don’t regret it one bit. I have had so many people tell me that I was going to regret this decision but I definitely don’t. Because I can wash my couch whenever I want to! I can even BLEACH it (more about that later.) Check out some top reasons why I love my Ektorp so much!

Blanket: PCB Home  Rug: Rugs USA

  1. Quality: The quality is AMAZING for the price. We paid $899 for our sectional. The Ektorp sectional is comparable to the Pottery Barn Comfort Roll Arm Slipcovered Sectional which retails for around $4,000 so yes, I will take my Ektorp all day everyday. Like I said, I was very susceptible about the quality but it has been amazing. The framework, cushions, fabric, everything! If I am being honest, our couch looks just as good as it did whenever we first bought it 2 years ago.
  2. Durability and Convenience: Now for all of you all white haters out there. If you know me, you know that my house is practically all white! Our walls, bedding, fabric, rugs, everything haha. I love having a white couch because it goes with the theme of my house and I love that I can add throw pillows to my couch depending upon the season and it will tie everything together. It’s my fav! Okay so now for the good part. I can throw my entire slipcover into the washing machine. I can throw the cushion slipcovers, entire slipcover, whatever, anytime I want to! If I don’t spill something in my coach then I typically wash it ever 2 months. I am able to wash the entire coach in 2 loads. I do one load for the bottom cushions and one load for the back cushions. I only wash the entire slipcover twice a year because it never needs it. To wash, I use my normal detergent, a little bit of bleach and let it ride. When drying, I dry about 3/4 of the way dry and put them back on my coach! I mean how freaking nice is it to be able to wash your couch anytime you want to. And for those of you asking, I have been able to get everything out of this couch just by throwing it in the wash (makeup, drinks, food, dog pee, everything!) I almost forgot to mention – I am not locked into my color! If I want to switch my color, I just buy a brand new slipcover (for under $200) and I practically have a brand new couch!
  3. Comfort: Like I have said before, this thing is so dang comfortable! Our favorite thing to do is take a nap on this thing! It’s not too deep and works out perfectly for us. Like I mentioned above, the cushions are comfy and have held up so well in the 2 years we have had it. Since we are in a bigger house now, Joshua and I have also talked about purchasing the Ektrop loveseat or Ektorp chair. These pieces are equally as comfortable (we tested them in the store haha) – I just have to find the perfect place for them in our living room.

Blanket: Target

Velvet Pillows: TJ Maxx

I seriously can’t get enough of this thing! Hopefully I answered all of your questions! If not, feel free to send them to me.
